Condado de Haza wines are bottled after undergoing malolactic fermentation and stored for 15 months in American oak bottles. Although they can be enjoyed at once, they gain in depth and nuances with the passage of time.

When the vintage is particularly good, some of the vineyard’s most mature grapes are reserved for a very thorough winemaking process and 30 months of contact with new oak. The exceptional result of all this is called Alenza.

Wine Tastintg Details

Type of wine: red.

Type of grape: 100% Tempranillo.

Alcohol content: 13.5% Vol.

Appearance: Intense ruby-red color.

Aroma: Toasty, warm scents of plum, candied cherry and licorice, with a suggestion of roasted coffee aromas.

Palate: Plush, round and almost sweet in its display of ripe cherry and strawberry fruit. Finishes with silky tannins, a repeating note of strawberry and very good length.

Gastronomy and Service: Consume at around 17ºC with lamb and suckling pig roasts, lamb chops cooked over vine cuttings, semi-cured goat cheeses, and oven-roasted fowl. Decant it 30 minutes prior to serving.

The Pazo señoráns Albariño is a harmonious blend produced at the winery from different plots. In contrast, the Selección de añada (Vintage Selection) is an Albariño made up of a selection of grapes with higher alcohol levels and greater acidity. These grapes normally come from a plot located in the higher part of the estate with sandy subsoil, which enables the fruit to reach excellent ripeness levels.

Wine Tasting Details

Type of wine: white.

Type of grape: 100% Albariño.

Alcohol content: 13% Vol.

Type of Bottle: Bordeaux

Colour: An attractive straw yellow colour with a green tinge with tears on the glass that are dense and slow moving.

Nose: Before swirling, the nose displays a medium to high intensity of aromas. Complex ripe fruit comes to the fore as a result of a long, ideal ripening season, following on from a hot, dry summer. Among these primary aromas, Golden Delicious apple notes come through in particular, mingling nicely with a whole range of citrus fruits and their corresponding rinds. These gradually give way to spicy and floral hints. This delicate and very subtle nose lingers beautifully without ever being submerged by the high alcoholic degree of the 2005 vintage.

Palate: A lovely mouth-feel from start to finish: firm, seamless and well-structured on a good base, thanks to the work put in during the harvest and the subsequent, regular stirring of the fine lees. The wine shows great harmony throughout the whole of the tasting that’s rounded off with a pleasant, fleshy sensation that contains refreshing acidity. A full, clean finish, with powerful, lingering varietal flavours, reminding us of freshly-picked Albariño grapes.

It began on September the 29th and finished on October the 4th. The albariño bunches are harvested by hand and taken to the winery in small cases. This vintage has given remarkably low yields.

Once in the cellar, these grapes are first carefully and partially destemmed and then pressed in a low pressure pneumatic press. This process helps extract the maximum aromatic potential from the grapes. The grape must is fermented in temperature controlled, stainless steel tanks, for 30-40 days, at 14º-16ºC. Fermentation takes place in absence of the grape skins. The albariño grape juice is left in contact with its lees for a short time in the pursuit of texture and density.

Time in deposit is 5 months and time in bottle before being released over 2 months.
